How to play Tic-Tac-Toe

Tic-Tac-Toe is a short strategy game on a 3×3 board. You play X against a computer playing O. Each square can be used once, and the first line of three matching marks wins. A full board without a line is a draw.

  1. You are X and move first; the computer is O.
  2. Choose an empty square. Three of your marks horizontally, vertically or diagonally win.
  3. A full board with no line is a draw.

Tips for your next round

  • Check for an immediate winning move before blocking the computer. If you cannot win now, block its line of two.
  • A fork creates two winning threats at once. Watch for moves that let either player build one.

This is a single-player match against a local computer opponent; no online opponent or second player is needed.
