How to play Lights Out
Lights Out is a 5×5 toggle puzzle: changing one light also changes the lights beside it. There is no need to race the clock. Study the pattern, try a combination of presses and aim to leave the entire board dark.
- Tap a light to toggle it and its horizontal and vertical neighbors.
- Switch every light off to win.
- Each starting pattern is made from legal toggles of a solved board.
Tips for your next round
- Pressing the same square twice cancels those two presses. The order of your presses does not change their combined effect.
- To clear a lit square in the top row, press the square directly below it. Continue downward to see what remains in the bottom row.
Every board starts from an all-off board followed by legal toggles. A solution therefore exists; the game does not claim that your move count is the minimum.
