How to play 2048

2048 is a sliding number puzzle on a 4×4 board. Each move shifts the whole board, so a merge that looks useful now can also block your next move. This version ends with a win when you make the 2048 tile.

1. Use the arrow buttons or keyboard arrows to slide every tile.
2. Equal adjacent tiles merge once per move. A new 2 or 4 appears after a successful slide.
3. Reach 2048 to win. The game ends if the board fills and no equal neighbors remain.

Tips for your next round

• Keep your largest tile near a corner and build smaller matching tiles toward it.
• Look for a move that leaves several empty spaces. A full board gives you fewer ways to recover.
